After receiving the Mars Hydro we were pleased upon its arrival. A heavy LED grow light suggested a well-built lighting system. We were right. At just over 18 lbs this 720 watt led light can really help you grow.
This is an affordable light and will not only please a beginner but also a knowledgeable grower as well.
BUY ON AMAZONAlthough no instructions come with the product, it does not matter. Set up is easy and includes all you need to start growing minus the seeds, water, and soil.
After you hang it up in your grow tent or space and plug it in you are ready. Everything is well thought out by Mars Hydro, the one the best and most experienced and reputable grow light manufacturers. The cord is easily centered at the top of the lighting system and can easily be shored up with a good zip tie.
Other than that everything looked great after setting up from the solid construction to the simplicity of the design.
The flowering phase for the light does run a bit hotter than we would like but a close eye on the process kept things moving along. Don’t get me wrong, this LED will never be as hot as a normal old school incandescent but there will always be some heat given off by an LED. Not much heat, but the possibility of a scorched plant can present itself.
Simple To Use Mars Hydro LED
The “veg” setting put out far less heat and was self-explanatory. We had set this up in a small grow tent with the lights about 2 feet above the canopy of the plant itself. We used only 1 pant for this grow but 2 would be ideal with proper space for flowering. The internal fan is quiet and kept things cool as well.
The full light spectrum, although not viable to the naked eye during some frequencies, puts out just 317 watts at a consuming rate of only 110 volts.
Great quality light at an affordable light as you can see. We always recommend using eye protection with these lights so you don’t have to turn off your lights or risk hurting your eyes from ultraviolet lighting. This energy-saving grow light is sure to be a go-to and I can see why it is so popular. Up there as one of my favorites. It is simple to use and very versatile. My only recommendation is to be sure the dimensions will fit within your grow tent space as it is a rectangular shaped LED.
As far as budget lighting goes, the Mars Hydro is a sleek looking solid unit that has a bit of sci-fi flare. With its green shiny paint and red buttons, it kind of reminded me of a UFO. Once you full power up this LED, plugged in and hung sturdily above your flower pots, the purple haze glow will throttle you.
Don’t worry, it is a good thing, granted you are wearing protective sunglasses as to not harm your retinas, the first thing you notice is that purple spectrum of light has a solid stream downward.
A good height to start out with is the standard 2-foot range. This will put the growing area at optimal lighting in full-spectrum, as well as keep the heat index down.
A plant killer is heat for sure, second to over nutrient-rich soils and overwatering. Paired with the right grow tent (check out our gorilla grow tent reviews) in which we hung this lighting in our 2′ X 4 ‘ Gorilla Grow Tent which managed to have plenty of room to raise and lower the lighting as our buds and flowers sprouted up using the Mars Hydro as intended.
Because the hanging and pulley system was so well made we were able to produce some tall plants in our tent. This is, of course, more of an economy light, but mixed with 2 or 3 of these lamps and the rectangular shape of these Mars Hydro LED grow lights you can produce quality buds and flowers that will blow you away.
Our energy bill was no more noticeable than with a typical LED grow light. Energy consumption with the Mars Hydro reflector was minimal.
